"Humble Beginnings" This piece was created because of my Brother.  He's followed me along on this "journey".  He told me that I should paint "BIG".  This painting is a result of that effort!  It seemed like it took me forever.  I stressed over it, then enjoyed it, then questioned everything about it.  This is the end result.  I thought about this painting as a "beginning" of sorts.  By that I thought about symbolizing a young couple starting their own family.  In another new beginning of sorts, It could  symbolize a new beginning as an "empty nester".  Both of those scenarios are big, huge, sometimes scary, unknown adventures.  Both are humbling, full of learning and experiencing a new season in life.  For a new family, it's full of anticipation and expectation.  For a family with children leaving home, it could be grieving and figuring out how to parent in a different way.  It's ...

Traveling and Dreaming of Far Away Places...        Anyone who know me knows that one of my favorite things in life is to travel and have adventures!  One of my best friends, Rena (Renaisy Daisy, as I call her) used to call me "Kentucky" ~ back when I was much younger, I used to say I was going to run away to Kentucky where nobody knew my name and I could disappear in the Appalachian Mountains .  I dreamed about being a "mountain" person and living in the wilderness, living off the land.  Then reality sort of creeps in and time makes you a little older and wiser and I begin wondering if I could even start a fire.  Plus, I really don't enjoy being cold, so this little fantasy just isn't going to work for me.   Then last year we were blessed to be able to take a trip to Mexico with my sweet, sassy adventurous cousin and her husband.      I can't even tell you how much fun we had and how many memories...

Time's a Tickin'               This original mixed media piece symbolizes the passage of time in our lives. The round metal piece in the center represents the center of our lives. From there, at times, we spend so much time worrying about things that never come to pass. This is represented by the spirals and gears bursting from the center. The pieces of glass are glimpses of time we have wasted and can't get back. This was a good reminder for me to live in each present moment. Time is a gift we are given and it passes quickly.
