These are the Days One of the advantages of Facebook is that we have the chance to get our artwork "out there".  In doing so, I met the most amazing group of artists.  We collaborate every month to auction our work off and donate a portion of our sales to a different charity each month.  It's our way of giving back and paying it forward.   This month's charity is one that is very close to my heart. GRRACE (Golden Retriever Rescue and Community Education) is committed to locating and rescuing Golden Retrievers in need throughout my home state of Indiana. They take in Goldens when their owners no longer want them, when they are abandoned at shelters, or when they are picked up as strays. Their volunteers have such passion and comm itment for these wonderful animals. Today I Choose Joy This little painting is the latest in a series I'm working on.  I was thinking about how amazing it is that we have the opportunity to actually choose our attitudes, every day, and we get to choose how to deal with our individual situations.  This painting symbolizes how I was feeling on this particular day and how I decided to "choose joy".  I'm hoping it brings the viewer some joy when looking at it! Joy in the Journey This is one of my newest mixed media pieces, fresh off the easel.   I've discovered that I just love painting these wild and crazy flowers.  These flowers start out as "blobs" of ink and I really have to use my imagination to make them come to life! This piece has many, many layers.  It has layers of paper and paint.  It also has some stenciling and layers of ink.  To finish it off, I added the words, "Discover the Joy in the Journey".  This painting truly was all about discovering the joy in the journey!   This painting is another one that will be up for auction toward the end of May.
